Thesis Title: Taking control: Graphical tagging & (re)materialisation of the art object
About
I am an art-practice based researcher. My area of practice is interdisciplinary, combining mobile/ ubiquitous/ interactive media with printbased artworks. My research questions are theoretically underpinned by debates on dematerialisation of the art object that took place in the 1960's with conceptual art, and again in the 1990's with digitalisation of media. My practice is based on using camera phones which can scan graphical tags embedded into artworks to create a flow between real and virtual spaces, along the lines of augmenting reality.
