About
Professor Dr Patricia Wouters, founding Director of the Dundee UNESCO IHP-HELP Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science, heads up a multidisciplinary team of researchers (water law, policy and science) who work on issues related to water security and development. Pat's research focuses on transboundary water security, with a link to the higher-level objectives of the UN Charter -- promoting regional peace and security and the fundamental freedoms of all through the peaceful management of the world's transboundary waters. Professor Wouters serves (and has served) on a number of advisory boards (GWP-TEC; UNU-INWEH; World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Water Security; SUEZ FAC) and scientific committees; she has also published extensively and presented her work around the world. She works now with her Dundee team to implement the innovative Water Law, Water Leaders programme in Dundee and in-country, with a view to building a new generation of local water leaders. Pat continues to supervise PhD students and works to continue her research on water security through a legal perspective. Pat has just been named as one of China's 1000 Talents and will take up a part-time post at Xiamen Law School, one of the top international law schools in China.
